Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)
The Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) is a type of visa that allows international students who have recently completed their studies in Australia to live and work in the country temporarily. This visa is designed to provide graduates with an opportunity to gain work experience in Australia and improve their chances of obtaining permanent residency.
There are two streams under the Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485):
- Graduate Work stream: This stream is for international students who have completed a qualification in Australia that is relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list and have been nominated by an Australian employer. This visa allows you to live and work in Australia for up to 18 months.
- Post-Study Work stream: This stream is for international students who have completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Australia. This visa allows you to live and work in Australia for up to four years, depending on the level of qualification completed.
To be eligible for the Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485), you must have completed a course of study that is registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS), have good English language skills and meet health and character requirements.
It is important to note that the Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) is a temporary visa, and you will need to apply for other visas if you wish to remain in Australia permanently. It is recommended that you seek the advice of a registered migration agent to determine your eligibility and explore your options for obtaining permanent residency in Australia.
